On November 1 and 2nd, Dr. Camelia Suleiman
organized a Global Perspectives Symposium at Michigan State University
The symposium’s title was “Blurring Boundaries: Arabic
Identities Across the Mediterranean and Beyond.
Participants were from the USA, France, Morocco and
Palestine.
The topics were quite diverse and dealt with the following topics:
Arabic in the Media, The Arabic Legacy in Italy, Visualizing
Arabic, and Challenges of Pedagogy and Translation.
The presentations were followed by a very interesting
discussion regarding the teaching of Arabic in general.
